Paper pen games


There are many games that can be played simply with a paper and either pen or pencil or marker, during our school days we use to play these games and which are as follows:

  1. Raja, Rani, Chor and Shipai
  2. X and O
  3. Mera Ghar (Blocks)
  4. Yudh (Battleship)
  5. Phansi ka Phandha (Hangman)
  6. Paper hockey
  7. Paper Cricket
  8. Kahani (Story) 
  9. Yaadhi (List) 
  10. Blind Draw

Detailed information

  1. Raja, Rani, Chor and Shipai

Number of Players : 4-8

How to play :

Step 1 - Take a blank paper and cut it into small chits as per number of players.

Step 2 - Write Character names and score on the chits.

Normally for 5 players
10000
Rani 5000
Chor 0
Shipai 2500

If extra players then 4

Vajiher 4000
Guptchar 1000
Khajanchi 3000
Rasoya 2000

Step 3 - Distribute chits randomly to players.

Step 4 - Prepare a chart containing players name and rounds.

Step 5 - The twist - Shipai will name the Chor
              If correct his score will double 
              else "0" and Chor will get 2500.

             Vajiher has to find Guptchar (same rule)

Step 6- keep Recording the score.

Step 7- Repeat the steps 3 to 6 and enjoy.

Step 8- After say 10 or 20 rounds total the scores against each individual, player with highest total will win the game.

2. X and O

Very popular game we might have played for 1000+ times

Number of Players : 2

How to play :

Step 1 - Take blank paper and two pens.

Step 2 - Draw 4 lines
2 vertically and 2 horizontally.

Step 3 - Strat playing
Pick your symbol X Or O

One of the player starts with his/her symbol X/O

Second player starts with his/her symbol O/X

Continue this sequence

Step 4 - Winning :
The player who is able to form
a pattern of 3 consecutive symbol wins.

Continue for say best out of 10/20 and player with highest total wins.



3. Mera Ghar (Blocks):

On piece of paper make your blocks and player with maximum blocks wins. 

Number of Players : 2-4.

How to play:

Step 1:

Take a blank paper and pen

Step 2:

Draw dots as per need.

Step 3:

Player 1 will start by drawing a line by connecting 2 dots
Second player will also do the same
Continue drawing lines....

Step 4: -Winning

The player who forms / completes a square will put his Initial in the box
The player with maximum boxes wins the game.


4. Yudh (Battleship):

Yudh not on the battle ground but on the piece of paper between 2 players. 
The player who will trace opponent players yudhas or sena first wins the game. 

Number of Players : 2

How to play :

Step 1:

Take blank paper and pen

Step 2:

Draw 11 lines vertically and 11 horizontally to form many small boxes, you can increase the number of boxes if required.

Step 3:

Mention 1,2,3.....10 from up to down
Mention a, b, c... i from left to right.

Step 4:

Each player need to think of his Sena / Yodhas on the paper Cordniates

The Yudh Sthal (Paper) is divided into two parts

Player 1 can think from 1.a to 5.i
Player 2 can think from 6.a to 10.i

Eg. on 1.a, 10.f, 8.i etc

Don't reval your sena to other

But what is my Sena that you need to deploy?

You are the Raja - so don't plot that

Plot as you wish
Example
Player 1

1 Vajher - 5.d
4 Sena Tukdi - 1.f, 2.g, 5.d, 3.i.
2 Hathi sena - 2.a, 4.h.
2 Ghoda sena - 3.b, 5.g.
4 Terandhaj - 1.c, 2.d, 3.g, 4.d.
2 Tope Sena - 5.a, 5.i.
Etc.

Step 5:

Killing opposite Sena by tracing them....

Player 2 start guessing the Sena location only one location he can guess at once.


If player 2 guessed Eg. 1.f

If Correct then on paper circle that location after confirming from player 1

If player 2 guessed eg. 5.c
If incorrect then player 1 mark that location as "X".

Step 6:- Winning

Player who will be able to guess the location of all Sena first will win.


5. Phansi ka Phandha (Hangman)

Very popular game again, here the player need to guess the quiz or fill the blanks but the twist is the number of attempts are 6 only, but the presentation of losing of attempts is shown by a picture of Phasi where a person will be hanged. On first failure draw head, on second failure draw right hand then left hand then chest then right leg and finally left leg and game is over then. 

Number of Players : 2

How to play :

Step 1:

Take blank paper and pen

Step 2:

Draw a empty phansi

Step 3:

Chose a area of quiz
Say
Bollywood movies name
Bollywood actress or actors name
Cities names etc.

Step 4:

Player 1 will think of a name from area chosen

Eg. Movie - Hungama

Step 5:

Player 1 will remove few alphabets from name thought

Eg. H_NG_M_

and ask player 2 to answer

Step 6:

Player 2 need to guess the name above and tell to player 2

If he is right then new Name
If he is wrong On first failure draw head, on second failure draw right hand then left hand then chest then right leg and finally left leg and game is over then.

Step 7:
Now it will be turn of player 1 to guess

Step 8:- winning

Player with maximum guess in 6 attempts wil win.


6. Paper hockey:
    Let's play hocky not on the ground but on paper through pen. One of the most involving game. 

    Number of Players : 2

    How to play :

    Step 1:

    Take blank paper and pen

    Step 2:

    Draw hocky pitch by dots
    And make borders and 2 hocky posts.

    Step 3:

    Player will make a toss and decide who will open.

    Winning player will draw a ball on center of the pitch and start playing.

    Step 4:

    Passing the ball
    It will be done from one dot to another one by one by both players.

    Dots can be connected
    Vertically
    Horizontally
    Diagonally

    No repetitive lines are allowed, means if dots are already connected once can't be connected again.

    you can't play on border means you can't draw line on border

    But if you touch border you will get a bonus move means on more move

    Also if you pass through already connected dots but not having lines you will get bonus move.

    Step 5: winning

    The player who is able to goal on opposite side wins first. 


    7. Paper Cricket:
    Yes friends you heard correctly it's cricket on paper not on ground.

    Number of Players : 2

    How to play :

    Step 1:

    Take blank paper and pencil

    Step 2:

    Draw cricket pitch

    1 rectangle
    Both side 3/3 stumps
    4 circles one after another forming outer to each

    Step 3;

    Make a toss
    ( how can a match be played without toss)

    Step 4:

    Decide bat or ball by players

    Step 5:

    The bowler need to set his/her fielding

    11 players on ground.

    Step 6:

    The batting time
    Plot your player in front of stumps for batting

    How❓
    Take a pencil
    Hold it
    Hit it towards boundary means that circle and score.

    Rules,
    6 balls, no extras, 2 wickets

    Scoring
    Circle 1 - 1 run
    Circle 2 - 2 runs
    Circle 3 - 4 runs
    Circle 4 - 6 runs
    If line crossed or touched by pencil line drawn through hit

    Out
    If the lines goes through or hit the fielder.

    Winner
    Maximum Runs

    If Tie
    Super ball
    Means win extra ball batting...


    8. Kahani Sunnana (Story telling) 

    Stories we like more, but to see the creativity within us specialy for children or a child within we play this game, also to improve imagination, spontaneity, creativity etc. 
    Making story from characters, location , themes, objects, events, names, places, relations, activity etc. 

    Number of Players : 2

    How to play :

    Step 1:

    Take blank paper and pen
    Cut them into many pieces
    Write
    characters, location , themes, objects, events, names, places, relations, activity etc.
    after discussing with all or a parent can write without showing to childrens

    Eg. Raju, Dreams, Walking, Vada pav, Ocean, Goa, Stars, Rita, Grapes, Dance etc.


    Step 2:

    Fold the chits and put them into a box or jar or something

    Step 3:

    Ask someone to pick a chit,
    Start creating a story

    Two types of making the story

    Either that particular person picking will form that part of story

    Or all will say

    The first one is really good

    Story example:

    Suppose the chits are drawn in following order

    Raju, Dreams, Walking, Vada pav, Ocean, Goa, Stars, Rita, Grapes, Dance


    How can story be made? 

    Raju is a very rich man with lots of cars and chocolates, 
    Raju was sleeping and watching dreams, 
    Raju seen a dream of walking on bridge, 
    On walking near bridge he have seen a vada pav stall and eaten 2,
    Suddenly he saw a ocean and observed how water waves are comming, 
    after watching ocean he thought of going to goa, 
    He took a speed boat from there and reached goa by night and saw many stars there, 
    On the beach he meet a girl name Rita one of her girlfriend, 
    Rita gave him some grapes 🍇 to eat, 
    Suddenly there was a music and they both dance together........................ 

    9. Yaadhi (List) 
    It's kind of challenge where players need to make a list for a question asked. 
    Say list of red fruits...... 

    Number of Players : 2+

    How to play :

    Step 1:

    Take blank papers and pens

    Step 2:

    Either the other player or organiser ask a question involving many answers forming a list

    Eg. Railway station names
    Fruits name
    Country names
    Games with more than 2 player's
    Etc.

    Step 3:

    Time of 1min or 2 min
    Will be given to write the list.

    Winning:

    Player with Maximum items in the list wins.


    10. Blind Draw:

    An interesting game where participants are asked to close their eyes and draw as per instructions of the speaker.... Fun.

    Number of Players : 10+Many

    How to play :

    Step 1:

    Give blank papers and pens

    Step 2:

    Ask all the participants to close their eyes and listen.

    Step 3:

    Speaker gives the instructions on what to be drawn on paper
    The participants need to follow.

    Eg.
    Draw a straight line from left to right,
    Add a circle ⭕ at the end of line,
    Draw square outside the circle.
    Etc....

    Winning
    All are winners 🏆🎉🏆
    It's a communication, motivational game.
